I earlier posted an article asking your opinion of Velayudham so far.
However, after extensive research - I have found some minor details but considerably descriptive enough to confirm that Velayudham isn't your average masala movie.
Although I am deeply disappointed by the technical cast (with the exception of Vijay Antony), I have a bit of hope that the film might not be so bad afterall. 'Stunt' Siva is to choreograph the action scenes whilst Milan edits the movie. Priyan is the cinematographer which can be bad to most people considering the fact that Priyan often wields the camera for masala movies, so might use such effects when handling the camera.
So why the bad technical cast?
First of all, 'Stunt' Siva sucks big time. He was the stunt master in "Naan Kadavul". Now, his stunts are not over-the-top, zero-gravity stunts similar to those of Kannal Kannan or Fefsi Vijayan but these guys do unrealistic stunts which actually look good. 'Stunt' Siva's stunts potentially look very stiff and just on the whole badly choreographed. Milan on the other hand is an average editor. He isn't an "Anthony", "Don Max" or even a "V.T. Vijayan". This means the editor won't have any scope to edit the film. Sure, the film shoots might come out well but in the end it all depends on how the editor portrays the scenes to us. Milan does some fair editing, nothing extraordinary. Basic cuts, alright transitions but thats really it. I can't really stand watching a badly or even averagely edited film of Vijay after the slick editing I have seen ever since Pokkiri thanks to V.T. Vijayan, Anthony or even the new come Don Max who does cuts at a Hollywood standard. The problem I have with Priyan is that he does shoots for masala films a lot. Therefore the film might contain inappropriate camera angles (i.e. masala films show the camera shaking a lot in fights and from some crazy angles so he might not suit taking more serious scenes). Not only that, I wasn't particularly impressed by the camerawork in 'Singam', also took by Priyan. The camera just shook and did loads of 180 degree turns unneccesarilly in 'Singam' so that would be a bad idea since the film seems to show Vijay in a "Assassin's Creed" style get-up so the stunts are camerawork have to equally be well paced.
WARNING - THE TEXT BELOW CONTAINS SPOILERS. FROM EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, THIS IS WHAT THE PLOT IS ROUGHLY SAID TO BE SO READ ONLY IF YOU WISH TO SPOIL THE MOVIE FOR YOURSELF IF IT DOES TURN OUT TO BE THE OFFICIAL PLOT
A journalist is constantly harrassed by a local gang which belongs to a don who has contacts internationally with several groups and has gangs in nearly every single district of Tamil Nadu. The leader of this local gang is a very influential individual and has the ability to put forward ideas to his boss, whose role is yet to be identified. This local rowdy leader is most likely going to be Pasupathy. Soon, Pasupathy and his men are killed in a secret gang war when a meeting goes all wrong. The journalist witnesses this as well as all the evidence being destroyed by an unknown individual. She takes this as her opportunity to fake a letter, signed off by a mysterious character known as "Velayudham". She selected this name since the journalist is from a holy background and the name "Velayudham" would imply that the culprit is highly powerful. This all happens in Chennai. In result, there actually does turn out to be a real Velayudham in a village who is a humble person. He helps the locals out and solves all village issues in intelligent methods. More unexpected deaths occur and people start to think that this fake "Velayudham" is the real cause of this problem. The police use the name "Velayudham" as a cover up to hide illegal encounters to avoid problems since some of the higher ranked officials are corrupted and would not approve of the killing of the boss they all work for. It is believed that Pasupathy is the brother of this don. The don visits Chennai to ultimately find this Velayudham to kill him. Little do they know that this is in fact just a fictinious character by a journalist. Back to the Velayudham in the village, he lives with his widowed mother and two sisters, living a calm life. He is a very dedicated individual and always helps out his people. Soon, the villagers are asked by the government to leave the village temporarily (although the government evidentally plan to completely get them off the ground) to make way for a few factories to replace the fields. After Velayudham constantly negotiates with the government officials, they all refuse to consider his points. Legally, the government have the right to remove them off this land. Velayudham regretfully asks his people to leave. However, the government have offered a new area for accomodation and willingly, the village finally accepts. But, the village consist of poor families who aren't that wealthy. All their money is stored in a bank in Chennai. Therefore, Velayudham sets off to Chennai to retrieve the money for the bank and bring it back to his people to move. Velayudham stays at his old friend's, played by Santhanam, mansion (or apartment to be more precise) during his visit to Chennai. He immediately falls in love with Santhanam's colleague, the journalist (it is said that Santhanam works for a TV company and is the camerman for the journalist). Velayudham is actually called "Vel" apparently in the city since his whole name is hard to pronounce as said by Santhanam in one of the comedy scenes. So Santhanam and the journalist adapt to this name. Velayudham slowly learns from the journalist that a "Velayudham" was created by her to stop the bad guys in the city but now the don is desperate to find this unreal Velayudham. Vel goes to the bank but finds out that its not a real bank. Merely a fake bank, licensed under the name of the don. All the money has gone towards the don and his underworld mafia. Velayudham soon finds out that the don has a lot of influence in the city and can't talk justice to solve the matters. With less than a week for the villagers to move out, Vel becomes the official "Velayudham" to challenge the don. It's not an ordinary cat-and-mouse game. Velayudham uses stealth as his weapon this time around so his identity is not revealed to many people till the epic conclusion. Velayudham assassinates people and steals the money of the corrupted and transforms it to clean cash to compensate for the loss of the villages money. So in the end, Velayudham does some usual masala crap presented in a stealthy, Assassin's Creed style to get the money and save his village from being relocated to a new place.
